FAQs

With our inaugural season fast approaching, we've been getting lots of questions about the details our guests can expect to experience this summer. This FAQ section should answer any queries relating to booking, ticket prices, accessibility and general visiting information.

Can I choose my own seats, or is the seating plan general admission?

Yes, you can choose your own seats! When you click "Book Now" in the top right hand corner of the website, you'll be directed to our Box Office system. Once you've selected a date and a ticket type, you'll be able to scroll across our seating plan and choose the seats you'd like to sit in. Seats in orange are our Premium seats, which include a glass of sparkling wine, an embroidered Lavender Theatre blanket and a show programme. Seats in purple are our standard Full Price seats, but all offer an excellent view of the action from our raked seating area!

Are all seats covered, or just the Premium seats?

All of the seats in our auditorium are covered to keep you dry from spells of rain, or shaded from super-sunny matinees. Our Grass Banks are currently not yet on sale as we're keeping our fingers crossed for the grass to grow nice and thick by July, but if/when they become available, they will not be under the covered area, so it's wise to come prepared for whatever the Great British Summer has planned for us!

Can I bring my own picnic?

Sadly not. Due to our relatively small operation, we simply don't have the manpower to collect all the litter that's generated by folks bringing in their own food and drink - so no food and drink brought in from offsite will be permitted at the theatre. However, in addition to our picnic hampers which are already on sale, we have a full bar service and Buffalo Bill's Backyard BBQ open from 90 minutes before each performance. Serving sizzling steak, grilled chicken, halloumi and roasted vegetable options, there's something for everyone! All options come served with salad in a warm ciabatta roll and your choice of sauces - with a tray of nachos on the side! No need to pre-book this option, so just come along and enjoy the Wild West fixin's!

Do I need to book a car parking ticket in advance?

Yes. Our car park is limited to approximately 80 spaces, so if you're planning to travel by car, try and share with other members of your group who may have the same idea, as we're anticipating it may get quite full. Because of this, it is essential that you book a car parking ticket ahead of your visit, as there may not be any left if you leave it to chance on the day. If you live locally, please consider walking or cycling to the theatre, or if you're coming in from further afield, Epsom Downs is well served with trains running to and from London Victoria every 30 minutes (at 8 minutes and 38 minutes past the hour, every hour).

How do I book accessible tickets?

We need a little bit of information from customers wishing to book tickets at our access rate, just so we can make sure we're giving you the seats that best suit your requirements. Because of this, you'll need to email us at boxoffice@lavendertheatre.com or give us a call on +44 (0) 7864 625430 so that we can help allocate you with the most appropriate seats.

Is there a dress code?

There's no dress code to attend shows at the Lavender Theatre, but we'd recommend that you prepare for whatever the weather is saying on the day. Also, if you'd like to dress up for Annie Get Your Gun, we'd love to see your best western wear! Wild West Heroes and Rhinestone Cowboys to the front of the queue!

Will I get my tickets posted out to me?

All tickets purchased online will be emailed to you, but tickets purchased in-person at the Box Office at Mayfield London in Epsom will be printed physical tickets. We don't currently have the ability to deliver tickets via post, but you can always email us at boxoffice@lavendertheatre.com or give us a call on +44 (0) 7864 625430 to arrange collection from the Box Office at a later date.

Is there a booking fee?

There is a £2.00 booking fee, per ticket, for all tickets purchased online, but there's no fee if you book directly at the Box Office at Mayfield London, 139 Reigate Road, Epsom KT17 3DW.

Do you offer a group booking rate?

Due to the huge expense involved with opening a brand new theatre, all while receiving no public funding or government subsidies, we are relying entirely on our box office income for the business to survive this tricky first year. As such, our group rate allows you to book the tickets at face value, without incurring a booking fee, but we aren't able to offer any further discount at this time. To arrange a group booking, please email us at boxoffice@lavendertheatre.com and we can set up a reservation for you.

What happens if it rains?

In most cases, we won't cancel a show due to inclement weather as the seating structure is covered. In extreme cases (where it would be unsafe for the show continue), we may take a pause and wait for conditions to improve, but no refunds will be offered for inclement weather. In very extreme cases which would cause us to cancel the show, audience members will be offered a transfer into another performance so that they can return to catch the show on another date.

What happens if I am late, or need to leave the auditorium during the performance?

Owing to the nature of the theatre, and the intimacy of the auditorium, admitting latecomers, and re-admitting auidience members during the performance, can be distracting to the actors and others in the audience. We cannot guarantee that latecomers will be admitted, but will endeavour to admit them at a suitable point. Likewise, should it become necessary for you to leave the auditorium once the show has started, we will endeavour where suitable, but do not guarantee, to re-admit you at an appropriate point in the show.

Can I bring my bike to the theatre?

Yes, we have bike racks available for our audiences to use at the theatre. Don't forget to bring a padlock to keep your bike safe, as we cannot take any responsiblity for theft or damage of your personal belongings at the theatre.

How do I find the theatre?

The theatre is located at the Mayfield London site in Epsom (139 Reigate Road, Epsom, Surrey KT17 3DW). Please ensure you come to the right lavender fields and don't get the theatre location confused with our other site in Banstead! There is no theatre at the lavender fields in Banstead, and unless you have a car, it's a very (very) long walk and public transport will only be able to take you from one site to the other via a bus, which comes once an hour.

The theatre is very easy to reach via public transport, with Epsom Downs station approximately 7 minutes from the front gates on foot. The TfL 166 bus stops just a few hundred yards from the theatre (alight at Drift Bridge, opposite the Audi Garage).

What time does the theatre open?

The theatre is open to audiences 90 minutes before the show is due to start, so that you may enjoy the bar service, grab a bite to eat with one of our dining options, and take a stroll through the blossoming lavender. The auditorium will open approximately 15 minutes before the performance begins.

I need to organise my journey home. How will I know what time the performance ends?

The running time will not be more than three hours. Once the production opens, we will add the running time within the What's On section.

Can I smoke at the theatre?

Smoking is permitted at the theatre, but not inside the auditorium. Please dispose of your cigarette ends in one of the cigarette bins around site, and please be considerate to other guests if you choose to smoke. We don't mind you smoking, so long as you're not distrurbing our other guests.

Are there age restrictions for your productions?

The age recommendation for Annie Get Your Gun is 8 and up, though younger children may not find the story engaging, so parents should use their own discretion to determine whether or not they feel the show would be suitable for their children. With colourful costumes and lots of energetic dancing, not to mention fantastic live music, we're sure that there'll be lots to enjoy for all the family. In any case, babes in arms will not be admitted to the theatre.

Can my child sit on my knee?

All children will require their own ticket which shall be at full price if no Under 14 concessions are available at the time of booking. Under 14 concessions are only available on weekday performances.

Can I take photos during the show?

No, the use of cameras, recording equipment and mobile phones is not permitted in the auditorium or on the theatre lawn during a performance.

Mobile phones and tablet screens are distracting to other audience members, so we ask that all devices are switched off during the performance.

Adult ticketholders consent to being filmed and photographed for publicity and broadcast purposes.
